Each month, the U.S. government offers up to 30,000 noncitizens from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela advance travel authorization to pursue parole under the parole program. Due to the high demand of individuals offering sponsorship, the selection process has changed, effective May 17, 2023. The number of submissions of Form I-134A, Online Request to be a Supporter and Declaration of Financial Support, exceeds the monthly travel authorization cap.
The new process selects individual applications of support in two sections. About half of the monthly maximum number is randomly selected, regardless of the date filed. The other half is selected in the order of receipt, based on the date filed from oldest submission to newest. As such, the processing time will vary. Individuals should not submit duplicate forms.
If you have questions about the parole program or any other immigration-related issue, contact us at ILBSG. We work with our clients in their individual situations to ensure they get the right advice.
