U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) started releasing H-1B cap selection notices for the FY2023 lottery. It’s uncertain when all notices will be released. Check with your attorney or log into your account to see if you have received a notice.
USCIS has not announced how many submissions were received for the FY2023 lottery. However, the FY2022 lottery saw a total of 308,613 submissions. Nearly half of those were for the master’s cap. USCIS initially selected a total of 87,500 for the FY2022 cap. Subsequently, two additional H-1B cap selections were made, one in July 2021 and a final FY2022 selection in November 2021.
Each year, USCIS offers 65,000 H-1B visas for specialty occupations and an additional 20,000 for individuals with a master’s degree or higher. If you are selected in the lottery, the filing period opens on April 1, 2022.
It’s critical to work with an experienced immigration attorney to maximize your odds of success. ILBSG saw over 99% success for our clients in FY 2022.
